Essendon has long been known as the ‘Jewel of the North’. Lush park lands, close to the airport, many local villages to explore, shoppers delight and a foodie  haven. There are so many reasons to explore Essendon and surrounds, that there  really is no reason to ever leave.

There are many park lands in the local area of Essendon, the hardest part is choosing the one to explore. Rated as one of the top 20 parks in Melbourne, Queens Park truly is one of Melbourne nature play grounds. Perfect place to bring the family for an afternoon picnic or afternoon stroll through the lush greenery. Another hidden gem is Allison Reserve, our Sturt St residence is nestled amongst the lush greenery. Allison Reserve is the perfect place to settle in for a Saturday afternoon; with barbeque areas, sporting events and a playground for the little ones.

Being a part of the Moonee Valley City community, means that there are so many activities in the local villages on the skirts of Essendon. Catch a movie at the Clocktower, check out the latest exhibitions at the Incinerator Gallery or go ice-skating in the heart of the Puckle St precinct. From street festivals to winter wonderlands, there is always something to do in the area.

Whatever you need, you will never have to travel far. With over 500 specialty fashion, homewares and lifestyle stores, Highpoint could be one of the best shopping malls in the district. We all love a bargain, DFO Essendon Fields is a great place to go for a mid-week explore. Or for the upscale local boutique  purchase, Puckle St and Rose St will definitely have you covered for all needs.

The options are really endless for entertaining, plethora of cafes and restaurants nearby mean you can step out for a delectable brunch at Ten One Ate, succulent seafood at 400 Gradi or amazing coffee at the bustling St Rose Café.

Probably one of the most underrated parts of living in Essendon is the close proximity to the airport. As fabulous as our local community is, we all need a holiday from time to time. Travelling can be quite stressful, packing your bags,  making sure you didn’t forget anything, making sure the flights are booked, accommodation is perfect. The joy of living so close to the airport is it’s one less thing to worry about. A quick 15-minutedrive down the freeway, park your car and you can relax and unwind in the beautiful terminals of Tullamarine.
